50BMG (Browning Machine
Gun) Pens
| Here is something new for your
consideration. There has been a 50BMG pen kit available for
turners from a company I refuse to mention. A 'bullet'
had to be turned in order for the kit to be 'finished'
(complete). Since I own and shoot a 50BMG single shot
rifle I wanted to be able to offer a 50BMG pen without
having to deal with the company I refuse to name. A close
friend developed this new kit and the beautiful thing about
it is that you do NOT have to make the 'bullet' on a lathe.
All that's needed to make our kit is for you to assemble the
'bullet' components (nib, refill with spring and the
transmission), push the completed 'bullet' assembly into the
mouth of the brass case and you're done!
We use a brand new, unfired, 50BMG brass case that has been
powder coated to slowdown tarnishing of the brass case.
There are no dents, corrosion or other unsightly marks on
the brass as others have. We also use a Parker style
refill that will last longer and write better than a Cross
style refill does.
These pens are not Swiss watches. Each kit has a hand
made insert that is not made exactly like the one before it.
The neck thickness of the brass also has an effect on
assembly/brass case matchup. Our main purpose is to
produce a 50BMG pen that is easy to assemble unit with a
long lasting finish and you don't have to be a craftsman to
make it!
There are some out there that are making the 50BMG pens
using the actual bullets found in the various types of 50BMG
ammo. All but two examples I have pictured above
are extremely dangerous as they contain highly
flammable/explosive materials that can cause serious bodily
injury while the black tip bullet cannot be drilled through.
Don't put yourself, your family, your shop, your home, etc.
in danger by using ammunition components that were never
designed to be drilled into.
This .50 caliber bullet cartridge pen kit will make a great
gift for any outdoorsman or a military enthusiast. First
developed for the M2 Browning that was developed in late
1915, this cartridge is commonly used in the military today. |
