Crushed Stone

Please read the Shipping Terms & Information page regarding shipping charges before ordering.

Crushed stone is an excellent material to use as an inlay material.  I personally prefer the use of crushed stone over metal shavings (brass, aluminum, etc.) as the stone adds much more warmth and personality (see pictures below).  Turquoise ("Sleeping Beauty" - sky blue) and malachite (green) can be used to fill voids and cracks or placed into grooves (purposely cut) to enhance your project.  Instructions for use are included with every order.

We purchase whole nuggets of each type of stone and then manually crush them. The material is then sifted through various sized screens to come up with the different sizes.  We offer the following sizes:

Extra Fine - a fine powder      Fine - consistency of very fine beach sand   Medium - heavy beach sand
Coarse - chips 3/32" +/- in size      Stone - chips 1/8" +/- in size

Please keep in mind that the color of the stone (i.e. turquoise, malachite, etc.) can vary from one batch to the next.  Mother Nature like to keep us guessing but we make every effort to supply a consistent color in each type of stone.

To purchase crushed stone, simply click on any of the crushed stone links below and from there you can choose your desired size.  Prices do not include shipping.  I use Priority Mail for these items and the normal Priority Mail shipping charge is $4.95 or $5.00 depending on the amount ordered and box used (not including insurance) A lot of stone can be packed into one of the large video boxes supplied by the USPS (please read the Shipping Terms & Information page regarding shipping charges before ordering).

All of the crushed stone shown below is sold in one (1) ounce bags (approximately two teaspoons).

To order crushed stone click on the blue links below the photos.

Please keep in mind that the color of the different stone pictured below can be different from what you may actually receive.  Your monitor's settings, Mother Nature, the glue used to set the stone, etc. can affect the final color.  I cannot guarantee nor will I guarantee a particular color and/or shade of stone.

Coral
We have received many, many requests for red stone.  Authentic red and pink coral are both excellent choices as inlay materials.  However, their cost is such that most people experience 'sticker shock' (best described as clutching one's heart, staggering around followed by heavy breathing).

We are happy to announce that we have found a source for authentic coral that has been color processed in various shades of red.  It is easily turnable and reasonably priced.  We think you will be happy with these color additions added to our offerings of crushed stone without having to suffer 'sticker shock'.  All these colors of coral are available for $15.99 per ounce.

CYANOACRYLATE GLUE

(commonly known as CA glue)

We are asked daily what type of glue do we recommend when inlaying stone.  The glue of choice is Cyanoacrylate glue.  We don't recommend epoxy because epoxy  develops air bubbles during the mixing process and those bubbles show up after the epoxy hardens.  CA flows in between the granules of stone and forms a clear 'mortar' around the stone that enhances the overall look of the inlay.  Extra fine stone requires THIN viscosity CA and any stone larger in size requires MEDIUM THIN or thicker.

We cannot tell you how much stone you may need for your project (too many variables) nor can we tell you how much CA glue will be required (again, too many variables).

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
Jesus Christ and the American G.I.
One died for your soul and the other for your freedom.

A friend sent me the following:

What is a Veteran?   A "Veteran" -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of up to and including his or her life.

It was 113 here yesterday....

A friend and customer called the other day and in the course of our conversation he mentioned that he had a dog that was fourteen years old and was showing signs of age.  I asked him if he had ever read "The Dog's Prayer" and he had not heard of it.  As a courtesy to him and to others that have not read it I am posting it here.  Kleenex will be needed.....

A Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside... for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements... and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth... though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land... for you are my god... and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

Beth Norman Harris
